Foulbrood
The European (EFB) and American (AFB) foulbrood disease are caused by Paenibacillus larvae and Melissoccocus plutonius two widespread bacteria, respectively. While both pests are highly contagious diseases, AFB is known to be more acute and wider distributed. [1]
Ethiopia: The status of foulbrood is unknown, but AFB and EFB are present in the neighboring country Eritrea, while it is absent, or suspected to be absent in Kenya, Sudan, South-Sudan and Uganda. [2]
Indonesia: There is also a lack of knowledge regarding the foulbrood status in Indonesia!
